Kathryn Jones Cooper currently serves as one of the Senior Associate City Attorneys with the City of Raleigh.  She has worked in the Raleigh City Attorney's Office since March 2021.  Prior to coming to the City Attorney's Office, she worked for the North Carolina Utilities Commission as a Senior Staff Attorney, and for the North Carolina Department of Justice as an Associate Attorney General, Assistant Attorney General, Special Deputy Attorney General and Section Chief of the former Water and Land Section of the Environmental Division.  A graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law, Ms. Cooper concentrates her practice in Environmental and Energy Law.  Ms. Cooper has practiced law for over 41 years, and most of it as an environmental litigator.
